Michigan Unemployment Rate Up In December

(LANSING) – Michigan saw an increase in their statewide unemployment rate from November to December.
According to data released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget, the State’s unemployment rate increased from 4.8% in November to an even 5% in December.
One year ago, the Statewide unemployment rate was 4.1%.
Information shows that the largest industry growth over the month was in Leisure and Hospitality Services at .8%. Information Technology went up .7% and Financial Activities went up .6% over the month.
The National unemployment rate went down by one-tenth of a percent to 4.1% for December.
