Bronson drops softball game to Coldwater
(COLDWATER) – The Bronson softball team started their season by dropping a non conference game to Coldwater in a scheduled double header. The Lady Vikings lost game one 11-1 and game two was called after four innings with Coldwater leading 5-4 and the contest is not a win or loss according to Bronson head coach Becky Gray. Ashlynn Harris took the loss in game one for Bronson, going 6 innings and giving up 13 hits, 11 runs with 5 strikeouts, and 6 walks. Madison Shaw was the pitcher in game two for Bronson, going 4 innings and giving up 7 hits and 5 runs with 2 strikeouts. Ciara Blankenship was 3 for 4 at the plate with 3 singles and 3 stolen bases. It was a good debut for new Coldwater softball head coach Aaron Bucklin. In game one, freshman Laynie VanAken had 5 of the Lady Cardinal’s 13 hits, and picked up the win in the circle, with 12 strikeouts, no walks and one hit. Rylie VanAken had 3 hits including 2 singles. Mackenzie Searling had 4 hits on the day for Coldwater.
