Branch County Voters Approve Millage Proposals

(UNDATED) – Six millage proposals were presented to the voters of Branch County Tuesday and all of them were approved.

The Branch Area Transit Authority presented a millage proposal for .35 of one mill for five years. It was approved 3,533 Yes votes to 2,514 No votes (58.4% to 41.5%).

The Branch County Commission On Aging was asking for a renewal of .4857 mills for 5 years, and it passed 4,267 Yes votes to 1,803 No votes (70.3% to 29.7%).

Quincy Schools presented a renewal of their operating millage of 18 mills for 5 years, which voters approved 805 to 481 (62.6% and 37.4%).

The Batavia Township fire protection and equipment millage, asking for .5 mills for 6 years was approved 190 to 51 (78.5% to 21.6%).

Residents of Union Township were presented a millage renewal for fire protection and cemetery maintenance for 1 mill for 4 years, and approved it. There were 361 Yes votes and 114 No votes (76% to 24%).

Litchfield Schools was asking for a sinking fund millage renewal of .5 mills for 5 years. It was approved 316 to 245.
